SONY JOINS FORCES WITH INTRADYN TO MARKET E-MAIL COMPLIANCE
AND ARCHIVAL SOLUTIONS FOR SMALL AND MID-SIZED BUSINESSES

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 14, 2005 - Sony Electronics is working with Intradyn, of Eagan, Minn., to further build exposure for a combined archiving and retrieval solution tailored to address demanding record retention requirements for small and medium sized businesses (SMB) such as brokerages, medical clinics and legal firms.

The all-in-one e-mail archiving system couples Intradyn's ComplianceVault ™ E-mail Archiving and Retrieval Appliance with Sony's Advanced Intelligent Tape ™ (AIT) automation technology, offering a cost-effective and plug-and-play solution for SMBs that need to tackle regulatory compliance.

"E-mail archiving is an integral piece of a comprehensive and sustainable strategy for regulatory compliance, corporate governance and risk management," said Julie Rahal Marobella, senior research analyst, Information Management for Compliance at IDC. "While financial firms were among the first to recognize the need for proper e-mail archiving, the necessity for e-mail archives extends to all firms that use e-mail for internal and external business communication."

In fact, SEC Rule 17a-4 mandates that brokerage and investment firms preserve various digital records for at least six years, including daily e-mail purchase and sale orders and transaction confirmations.

The ComplianceVault is an integrated hardware and software solution that can be attached to a company's network to capture e-mails on a continuous basis, from virtually any e-mail system that is based on the common POP3 or IMAP standards, and from a virtually unlimited number of mailboxes. E-mails are stored and indexed to disk for fast search and retrieval, and archived and indexed to Sony's AIT rewritable or write-once, read-many (WORM) media. AIT WORM media limits accidental erasure or alteration of data, enables time and date authentication, and allows for easy off-site storage, all at a low cost.

Sony's AIT automation solutions are multifunctional, fully supporting both rewritable cartridges as well as WORM media. This enables organizations to choose the best backup and archival media for their needs.

Available in three configurations, the 1U rack-mountable ComplianceVault can be attached to any of Sony's 1U or 2U slim-line AIT libraries. For an added savings, the following bundled solutions are now available through Sony's extensive channel of commercial distributors, value-added resellers (VARs) and systems integrators.
