TECHNOLOGY MEETS ART WITH NEW SUPER AUDIO CD SYSTEM FROM SONY'S QUALIA ™ LINE
LAS VEGAS (CES, Booth #N109), Jan. 5, 2005 - In its quest to offer the ultimate realization of engineering and design, Sony Electronics today announced the QUALIA 007, a Super Audio CD (SA-CD) system. Complete with built in Sony S-Master ™ digital amplification and housed in a sleek aluminum chassis, QUALIA 007 represents technology and design working together harmoniously.
A unique "Level and Center" loading mechanism contributes to the allure of the QUALIA 007, producing a virtual "show." Place a disc in the loading area and the housing case silently glides closed, a trio of pistons rise up to accurately center and level the disc under the laser and play begins.
Combined with the built in 32-bit S-MasterTM dual-channel digital amplifier, the QUALIA 007 keeps the signal in pure digital form until the instant it outputs to the speakers, delivering superb high resolution musical enjoyment.

The Sony S-Master ™ integrated digital amplification offers an all-digital signal path to 75W x 2 speaker output. In addition the audio player's optical reading system employs two independent lasers with one optical lens, providing optimum performance for SA-CDs, Hybrid SA-CD/CDs and regular compact discs, as well as CD-R/RW discs.
The speaker system features a 1-inch Extended Definition (ED) tweeter with carbon composite diaphragm capable of reproducing high frequencies up to 70kHz. The Aramid Fiber Woofer diaphragm material is light, strong and rigid for quick response, high accuracy and low signal distortion. Additionally the curved speaker enclosure (made from Japanese maple using a bentwood technique) is designed to reduce standing waves.
The QUALIA 007 will be available next month for approximately $12,500. Demonstrations of this product can be enjoyed at the QUALIA New York and QUALIA Las Vegas retail locations.
