Corporate Communications — Corporate Communications supports the company's quality reputation and promotes Sony's brand image by providing corporate and marketing PR services. The department is responsible for interfacing with the news media on all issues relevant to the U.S. electronics business. It also provides communications support for Sony Corporation global technology, products and issues. à

Corporate Controllers Department — Consists of general accounting, accounts à
receivable, benefits accounting, corporate purchasing, payroll, financial analysis, corporate policy, corporate planning, financial systems replacement projects and accounts payable. à

Information Systems and Solutions of America (ISSA) — ISSA is responsible for à
supporting the company's computer and telecommunications environments by providing programming, systems and network support and training. In addition, this group consists of Sony's internal IMAG group, which manages software, and technical systems for Sony Electronics' increasing communications on the Web. à

Human Resources — The Human Resources Department is made up of several à
sub-departments; Corporate Compensation; Corporate Programs; Benefits and eHR; Diversity; Environmental, Safety and Health; International Human Resources; Employee Communications; Organizational Planning and Development; Staffing; Relocation Services; Organizational Assessment and Measurement; and Learning and Organizational Development. These areas work together to consistently administer SEL human resources policies and practices -- including recruiting, training, compensation and benefits -- to advance the company's business strategies and to support our employees and culture. à

Legal Department — SEL's attorneys and legal support staff are responsible for providing all legal services to the company's individual business units, as well as advising top management and corporate groups with regard to a number of key corporate issues. The law department is primarily tasked with preventive counseling, dispute and problem resolution and contract negotiation, drafting, intellectual property and interpretation. à

Logistics — Logistics consists of Distribution Operations, Transportation, both domestic and international, and International Operations, which provides Import/Export Operations. In addition, the department offers logistics planning/consultations through its industrial engineers and its process teams. This department's mission is for its logistics network to ensure a competitive advantage through flexible operations, time-sensitive processing, cost-effective infrastructure and value-added services. à

Corporate Strategy & New Business Development — This department is responsible for assisting SEL's operating groups in developing new business opportunities, as well as acting as a staff resource to SEL senior management on new business/new technology issues. CS&NBD also functions as a central contact point for new business opportunities between SEL and other Sony companies, as well as outside companies, and helps to ensure timely information sharing about new business issues among SEL groups. à

External Affairs — Consists of Government Affairs, Community Affairs, the Office of the Ombudsman, and the Technology Standardization Office. Government Affairs seeks to enhance Sony's business opportunities through public policy, including national and state legislation and regulation. Through its Community Affairs initiatives, SEL strengthens its ties with those communities where it resides. Its Office of the Ombudsman provides SEL employees with an avenue for resolving issues that have not been adequately addressed via conventional means. TSO helps build key relationships with major players in the industry and governmental agencies, and influences them to become receptive to new technologies supported and/or developed by Sony. à

Service — This department is comprised of the Consumer Products Center, World Repair Parts Center of the Americas, Sony Service Centers, Regional Repair Centers, Customer Information Services Center, Authorized Service Centers, Authorized Service Dealers, and Executive Customer Affairs. The goal of this department is customer satisfaction through access and responsiveness balanced by efficient processes. à
