MOVE TO THE GROOVE WITH SONY'S NEW WIRELESS SPEAKER SYSTEM

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 20, 2002 - Sony Electronics has cut through a thicket of speaker wire to introduce its first wireless audio speaker system, delivering high-quality audio in almost any room to the house without dangling wires.

This new line of free-range audio speakers makes a technological declaration of independence that is sure to cheer audiophiles, while making a bold design statement that will appeal to interior d écor enthusiasts.

"Our wireless speaker system offers high-quality sound without the unattractive wires that entangle so many homes and even provide a way to bring music from the PC to other rooms," said Jim Avato, accessory marketing manager for Sony Electronics. "The speakers have an elegantly futuristic design. We've replaced the technology, and the traditional speaker box with a sleek, new look."

Sony's SRS-RF90RK is an easy-to-connect wireless audio speaker system that offers two-way power operation and an automatic tuning receiver for outstanding signal reception up to 150 feet from the transmitter. Designed for families and music enthusiasts, the system easily connects to PCs and other devices.

The core of the system is a slender 12-inch, titanium-colored cylinder with a six-inch, blue backlit screen positioned at the top to deliver lush, stereo sound using Sony's new reflector technology. The system has a built-in 4W amplifier, a neodymium magnet in the tweeter for clear vocal reproduction, a Sigma-type magnetic circuit in the woofer, and built-in Mega Bass ® sound system.

The small, portable unit offers three transmission channels for low interference and up to three-and-a-half hours of operating time on its built-in rechargeable nickel cadmium battery. Continuous power can also be supplied through an included AC adapter.

Available in March, the SRS-RF90RK will retail for about $180. Additional SRS-RF90R wireless speakers can be purchased for about $150.
