LAS VEGAS, Feb. 27, 2007 – Sony’s new micro component systems and a boombox with Bluetooth® technology that were unveiled today eliminate the inconvenience of wires while streaming tunes from MP3 devices so you can listen to music virtually anywhere, anytime: in the living room, bedroom, office or even outdoors.
“The bottom line is that Bluetooth wireless technology makes the listening experience easier and offers many more options,” said Brennan Mullin, Sony’s director of marketing for personal audio.
Sony’s sound systems use stereo Bluetooth® technology with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) to deliver high-quality sound. The stereo systems support multiple digital music devices and accessories, including Bluetooth-enabled headphones, headsets, PCs, digital music players and cell phones that play music.

Small Sound to Larger than Life
Sony’s new line of shelf systems adds Bluetooth technology to a long list of features designed to make it easy to connect and play digital music files. The CMT-BX5BT micro component system plays MP3 files and reads ID3 tags so the artist and album information will show up on the display. It includes an all-in-one AM/FM tuner and a CD player that supports burned CD-R/RW discs.
With a minimalist, clean design, including a wooden speaker cabinet, the new shelf system fits in nicely with practically any home décor.
The speaker produces rich, powerful sound with 15 watts of power per channel. The bass/treble control and full-range bass reflex speaker system let you adjust the sound to your personal taste. The FM/AM 30-station random memory preset function programs your favorite radio stations. The system offers two timer functions. With the sleep timer, you can fall asleep to music, and with the play timer, you can wake up to CDs or the radio.
The CMT-HX7BT micro component system is the next model in the series. It adds satellite radio-readiness and an S–Master® digital amplifier for an even more powerful sound with 50 watts of power per channel.
The line’s most feature-rich stereo, the CMT-DH7BT micro home theatre system is satellite radio ready and features DVDplayback that is perfect for playing music or movies in the living room.
All three shelf systems will be available in April and will range in price from about $150 to $300.
On the Go
Whether you’re at home having a romantic dinner for two or throwing a party outdoors, the ZS-BT1 wireless boombox will provide flexibility so you can set the mood with music. With A2DP and Audio/Video Remote Control Profile Bluetooth technology, this boombox plays both CDs and digital music from wired or compatible wireless devices. Such key information as the album, artist and track appears on the two line back-lit dot-matrix LCD screen through the wireless connection. It’s easy to play, pause, skip, fast-forward or back up songs.
For non-Bluetooth digital music players, you can connect through the line-in jack with an audio cable (not included). The front loading CD player makes it easy to play CDs, including burned CD-R/RW discs. CD play modes include program, shuffle and repeat so the music keeps playing even when you’re too busy to play DJ. With the 10-key remote control, it’s easy to pause, rewind or fast-forward from a distance.
With its Mega Bass® sound system, you can achieve the audio level you want. It’s easy to preset 10 AM stations and 20 FM stations to play your favorite talk, music or sports radio shows. The wireless boombox will be available in August for about $150.
