SONY INTRODUCING NEW HOME VIDEO PRODUCTS THAT PACK FORMIDABLE AUDIO/VIDEO PUNCH

LAS VEGAS (CES Booth # 14200), Jan. 4, 2006 - Sony Electronics took the wraps off four home video products that combine superb picture quality with impressive audio for movies and music.

The lineup includes two DVD players featuring a High Definition Multi Media Interface (HDMI ™) output, new progressive scan DVD player, and a DVD/VCR progressive scan combo player/recorder.

"Sony is committed to developing DVD players suitable for every room in the home," said Philip Abram, vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics' Home Products Division.

DVD Players with HDMI

The new DVP-NC85H five-disc DVD player and the DVP-NS75H single-disc DVD player offer 720p/1080i upscaling through an HDMI connection. HDMI allows the transfer of uncompressed digital audio and video signals to other HDMI equipped components, providing an uncompromised picture. Both players also feature Precision Cinema Progressive technology, which delivers accurate and vivid images to the television. Other benefits include a 12bit/108MHz video DAC (digital to analog converter), and 24 bit/192KHz audio, providing high-quality video and audio processing for vivid images and crystal clear sound.

The DVP-NS75H and DVP-NC85H players will be available in March for about $130 and $150, respectively.

Maximizing Viewing Experience and Durability of DVD Collections

The new DVP-NS55P DVD player features Precision Cinema Progressive ™ technology, providing sharper images for a better viewing experience, and Sony's Precision Drive ™ III mechanism that helps maximize the performance of DVD collections by reading data even on some physically "warped" discs. Other benefits include fast/slow playback with sound, custom parental control, and a Spanish instruction manual for basic setup and operation.

Available in black or silver, the DVP-NS55P will be available in February for about $70.

Satisfying Multiple Formats

Also in Sony's family of new players is the combination SLV-D370P DVD player and Hi-Fi VCR. Users can view their favorite DVDs or VHS movies, JPEG still images, or listen to their MP3 and CD music.

The DVD component includes 480P progressive output and fast/slow playback with sound. The VCR component features flash rewind, enabling a complete rewind in about 60-seconds. Other benefits include a multi-brand TV remote control, instant replay/advance, and child lock.

The SLV-D370P combination DVD player/VCR will be available in March for about $120.

All of the new units can playback DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/+RW, DVD+R DL, CD-R/RW discs. They will also playback MP3 digital audio files stored on CD-R/RW, DVD-R/-RW/+R/+RW, as well as view JPEG images stored on CDs, DVDs or Kodak ™ photo discs.
