AND NOTEBOOK PC USERS
Versatile Service Powered by GoAmerica, Inc. Enables Wireless Internet Access from Multiple Devices
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 10, 2001 - Sony Electronics today launched its new MYLO wireless Internet service for CLI PEG-S320 handheld and notebook PC users looking to wirelessly access local news, sports scores, weather reports and financial information.
Powered by GoAmerica a leading nationwide wireless data and Internet solutions provider, and its Go.Web technology, the MYLO wireless service encrypts and compresses data while reformatting for a mobile Internet experience. MYLO wireless service and MYLO.com enable users to personalize information, bookmark their favorite sites, access e-mail or instant messaging and search HTML and WML-based Web sites - all of which optimizes wireless Internet access.
"Sony's MYLO wireless service offers mobile users a one-touch iconic interface, a personalized `Today' page and full Internet access for all of life's pursuits," said Cynthia Rennolds, director of IT network services at Sony Electronics. "MYLO.com makes it easy for consumers to work while they play and play while they work."
MYLO.com, a companion Web site to the wireless service, provides consumers the opportunity to preview the MYLO wireless interface, view coverage area maps and activate their mobile wireless service. Once activated, registered users can also use the site to personalize content and wirelessly access local news, sports scores, weather reports and stock information from the CLI É handheld and/or a notebook PC.
"MYLO wireless service and MYLO.com offer mobile users the tools for a wireless experience that is versatile and engaging," said Joe Korb, president of GoAmerica. "Together they help users stay informed and get the most of their personalized data."
To access the MYLO wireless service, the users of the CLI É PEG-S320 handheld require a modem adapter, which comes with a removable PC Card modem, and is specifically designed for the monochrome display CLI É handheld. Users of notebook PCs operating on Windows ® 95/98/00/NT operating systems with an open PC Card slot can use the same modem card with activation of either a notebook PC only or combination notebook and handheld PC service plan. The CLI É handheld modem adapter is now available on www.MYLO.com for $199, after a $100 mail-in rebate, with a 12-month service contract, other terms and conditions may apply. Sony's MYLO service will be available for a monthly rate of $39.95 for CLI É handhelds, $59.95 for notebook PCs and $79.95 for both. The service features unlimited Internet access within a designated service area.
