LAS VEGAS (CES, Booth #N109), Jan. 5, 2005 -Sony's newest line of VAIO desktops and notebooks give mainstream consumers a PC that can handle everyday essential tasks as well as provide a powerful multimedia experience - at everyday prices.
The Sony VAIO RB Series desktops and FS Series notebooks, packed with powerful, feature-rich, versatile capabilities, are ideal for performing critical computing tasks while still offering enhanced entertainment enjoyment. Multimedia features include personal video recording so you can watch and record your favorite TV programs, easy DVD creation for burning professional quality DVDs and the exclusive Sony software suite for enhancing your digital lifestyle.
The Sony VAIO RB Series is loaded with hardware and software to help create, manage, and share your digital photos, videos, and music. The RB Series also delivers a high quality television viewing experience. Powered by Sony's Giga Pocket ® engine, working in tandem with Microsoft ® Windows ® XP Media Center 2005, the RB Series PVR capability allows you to enjoy your favorite shows when you want.
The RB Series puts you at the center of the action. While watching TV, you can burn programs to DVD and create your own television archive with just one click using VAIO's Click to DVD creation software and DVD+R double layer / DVD RW drive. You can also transform your VHS or 8mm tapes into great looking DVDs with easy analog to digital video conversion.
With VAIO HDV 1080i support, the RB Series enables users to import high-definition content from a camcorder, as well as edit, convert, and burn high-definition camcorder video. Sony's new line of VAIO FS Series notebooks elegantly combines performance, mobility and multimedia capabilities in one svelte package. With a wide 15.4-inch WXGA (1280x800) display and slim, lightweight design, the FS Series notebooks are well-balanced for portability between home and the office.
Sony's XBRITE LCD technology ensures that video playback is crisp and vivid, while its Smart Display Sensor makes setting up external projectors and monitors a snap. Users can create and watch DVD movies with the built-in double layer drive, as well as capture, edit, and burn home videos from a camcorder. The FS series also features the Sony software suite for editing and managing multimedia content.
Intel ® Centrino ® mobile technology, featuring integrated wireless connectivity with IEEE 802.11b/g networks, provides the processing power for these notebooks. And with approximately four hours of battery life, the FS Series has stamina to spare.
