SONY DRIVES DIGITAL LIFESTYLE WITH NEW HIGH DEFINITION PC/TV LCD DISPLAYS
Company Leverages TV Legacy to Deliver Ultimate Entertainment Displays
LAS VEGAS (CES, Booth #N109), Jan. 5, 2005 - Multimedia drives the modern PC and Sony's new HT-Series PC/TV displays are geared to bridge the gap between traditional computing and powerful home entertainment applications.
The new high definition LCD PC/TV displays include built-in NTSC television tuners and feature Sony's new wall-mountable "Rising Design" design. The MFM-HT75W, a 17-inch, 16:9 widescreen display with 1280x768 screen resolution, and the MFM-HT95, a 19-inch, 5:4 standard ratio display with 1280x1024 screen resolution, both offer an array of connectivity options like S-video, component, composite, HD15 and DVI-HDCP inputs.
The displays also feature picture-in-picture functionality. This means that, when connected to the Internet, you can surf the web while watching your favorite TV show at the same time.
"Sony has been a clear leader in television technology and we have leveraged that expertise with our new displays," said Jim Neal, general manager for display product marketing in Sony Electronics' Home Products Division. "Multimedia enthusiasts have the power to work on their PC and enjoy a television program, DVD or gaming experience simultaneously on a single, high-quality display."
The HT-series also features Sony's exclusive XBRITE LCD technology and ErgoBright technology. XBRITE LCD technology utilizes a filter and powerful backlight technology to deliver rich colors, sharp contrast and crisp graphics. ErgoBright technology enables easy, one-touch adjustments, providing pre-set picture settings for PC, gaming or movie viewing.
Ideal for gaming buffs, both of the displays feature quick response times of 16 milliseconds and faster; high brightness (450cd/m2); contrast of up to 1000:1; and a sound package including two 3-watt stereo speakers, a 5-watt subwoofer and SRS Labs' WOW 3D audio technology. The displays are Mac and PC compatible.
The MFM-HT75W and MFM-HT95 displays will be available in February for about $600 and $800, respectively.
HS-Series Computer Displays
Also new to Sony's display line is the HS-series. With some of the fastest response times on the display market at 8 milliseconds (SDM-HS75P) and 12 milliseconds (SDM-HS95P), the 17-inch and 19-inch displays also feature 500:1 contrast ratio and offer a similar take on the "Rising Design" used in the new HT-series.
Featuring high brightness of 400cd/m2 and ErgoBright technology, the HS-series displays also support simultaneous connections with DVI-D and HD-15 inputs.
The 17-inch SDM-HS75 model is another new entry to the HS line. The display features 16 millisecond response time along with ErgoBright technology.
The SDM-HS75, SDM-HS75P and SDM-HS95P displays will be available in February for about $400, $450 and $700, respectively.
