SONY PRESENTS MEDICAL IMAGER LINE AT AHRA EXPO

ORLANDO, Fla. (AHRA), July 8, 2007 -- Sony Electronics is presenting its comprehensive line of imagers for the medical profession here at the American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) annual meeting and exposition.

Among the new and signature products on display at the Sony booth (# 833) are the UP-D74XRD, a compact high-speed 8x10 thermal digital film and paper imager; the latest FilmStation™ dry film imager, the dual-tray UP-DF550 model; the UP-D77MD full-page DICOM color printer, and the DVD-1000MD medical-grade DVD recorder.

“Our products are engineered for a variety of radiology modalities, each resulting in a cost-effective solution with excellent image quality,” said George Santanello, director of marketing for medical products at Sony Electronics.

Sony is taking the wraps off a new compact and quiet, the UP-D74XRD high-speed 8x10 monochrome film imager. The imager generates up to 90 high-resolution prints per hour (just a 40-second print time) for time-critical medical applications, and also offers the option of using economical paper or film media.

Designed specifically for use with a range of medical diagnostic imaging systems including ultrasound, mobile c-arm and x-ray, the new imager features both DICOM and USB interfaces for use within a network or for direct connection to the modality. Front-panel LCD display controls and media loading help enable simple operation, while its lightweight, small design allows for tabletop operation or easy integration into cart-based mobile system.

Additional products on display include Sony’s next generation FilmStation Dual-Tray, Dry Film Imager, the UP-DF550, which offers various film sizes ideal for a range of modalities or for a cost-effective means of creating reference prints; the UP-D77MD full-page DICOM color printer, specifically designed for nuclear medicine; and the DVO-1000MD medical grade DVD recorder, which incorporates two exclusive features -- DVORECOVERY ™ and DVOFAST ™ -- that together improve both patient workflow and ease of use.
