LAS VEGAS (SAGES, Booth #803), April 18, 2007 – Sony Electronics is demonstrating new high-definition display, storage, printing and communication solutions at the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) annual meeting this week.
Sony technologies on display at SAGES will include the new LMD-2450MD 24-inch (viewable area, measured diagonally) widescreen HD monitor; the PDW-70MD, Sony’s first XDCAM® medical-grade 1080i video recorder; and a live demonstration of the new IPELA® high-definition, IP-based visual communication system.
Sony Electronics’ “HD for Surgery” initiative brings the latest advances in HDTV technology to (and beyond) the surgical suite, allowing doctors to view and share details of a patient’s anatomy at four times the resolution of standard-definition technology.
“In our ongoing dialogue with the surgical community we constantly hear that HD video products are helping to improve medical visualization,” said Steven Blum, vice president of marketing and sales for medical products at Sony Electronics. “Our imaging products and technologies have become integral components of medical systems from major surgical equipment manufacturers and integrators over the past 20 years, and Sony is uniquely qualified to provide the industry with a full line of HD video solutions.”
The Sony “HD for Surgery” exhibit at SAGES will feature a practical workflow demonstration of how HD video can be incorporated into surgical systems to drastically improve surgical visualization, physician training and overall video communications.
