SONY STRENGTHENS RADIOLOGY LINEUP WITH TWO NEW PRINTING SOLUTIONS
AHRA 2006

LAS VEGAS (AHRA, Booth #832), July 30, 2006 – Sony Electronics is unveiling two new printer products at the 2006 American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA) conference that further illustrate the company’s continued commitment to supplying high-quality specialized printing solutions to the radiology market.

Highlighted by the versatile FilmStation™ dry film imager, with its newly announced, industry-leading MSRP of $9,995 (as compared to other dry film imagers in the market), the Sony printer line includes fast, practical and specialized imagers, which have been fine-tuned for specific applications and modalities.  The line enables medical facilities to customize a multi-component printing solution that meets their needs, offering a more cost-effective and reliable alternative to large, centralized printers and all-in-one devices.

Hybrid Printers

Sony’s new UP-990AD and UP-970AD models are “first of their kind” (from Sony) hybrid medical printers that offer both analog video and digital connectivity to imaging devices, delivering an easy upgrade path from an analog to digital environment.   Both printers produce full-page monochrome images for such applications as mobile c-arm, ultrasound and cardiac catheterization.  In addition to thermal paper, blue transparency film is available with the UP-990AD model.  Both devices carry a one-year limited product warranty (see actual warranty for details).

Full-Page DICOM Color Imager with Advanced Color Management

The UP-D77MD, unveiled for 3D CT and a full range of nuclear medicine modalities produces high-quality, smudge-free, color-precise images ideal for referring physicians and patient records.

The imager employs Sony dye-sublimation technology with robust color management powered by Sony’s built-in Advanced Color Management utility to provide accurate color reproduction and screen-to-print matching.

“Our printer lineup offers radiology professionals the flexibility to choose the right tool for the task-at-hand,” said George Santanello, Sony’s director of marketing for medical products.  “Our small footprint models support distributed workflow and enable printing right where it is needed, while our lineup of specialized printers allows our customers to most closely match a combination of Sony print solutions to their hard-copy needs.”
