SONY TURNS HOME PCs INTO ENTERTAINMENT EDITING SYSTEMS WITH THREE NEW EZ-EDITING PRODUCTS
EZ Audio , EZ Editor and EZ Memories Kits Allow Users to Transfer Analog Music to Digital CDs, Edit Home Videos and Create Virtual Photo Albums
LAS VEGAS (COMDEX, Booth # L5132), Nov. 12, 2001 - Sony Electronics today unveiled the EZ Audio Transfer & Restoration Kit, the EZ Editor Digital-8 Home Editing Kit, and the EZ Memories Photo Editing Kit, three new application solutions that turn personal computers into easy-to-use editing devices that preserve analog music recordings, digital home videos and digital photos.
Sony's EZ Audio Kit allows people to transfer audio from various sources to a PC and clean up pops, hissing and other unwanted noise. The easy-to-navigate software allows listeners to edit and customize music or voice recordings before transferring them to a recordable CD (CD-R) Audio disc.
The EZ Editor Digital 8 kit is a complete solution for PC-based editing of Digital 8 camcorder tapes. This kit allows users to transform home movies by cutting out the "boring" parts, adding music, titles and transition effects. The "solution-in-a-box" includes everything consumers need to bring these advantages to the typical Windows ® system-based PC.
The EZ Memories kit is a desktop solution that allows people to build a digital photo album. The user can customize the album itself using one of the program's album templates or they can scan in elements to design their own. Consumers can add music to the album and make the pages`flip' as they would in a physical photo album.
"Almost all households have vinyl records or home movies lying around, and with the growing number of people using digital cameras there are more personal photos created digitally each day," said Joseph Stinziano, director of consumer & convergent technologies for the media & application solutions division of Sony Electronics' Core Technologies Solutions Company. "The EZ products can preserve those memories in a digital format that is easily accessible today -- and in the process -- make them more enjoyable and entertaining."
EZ Audio Kit in Three Easy Steps
The EZ Audio kit gives people the capability to transfer, edit and preserve original records and tapes in just three steps. First, users import music from LPs, cassettes or other sources to a PC, which converts the recordings to a digital format without sacrificing the original sound quality. Second, listeners use software to clean up the recordings, make edits or customize mixes. Third, with a CD-R/RW drive (not included), users can burn music onto the provided CD-R audio discs, which can be played on most CD equipment.
Along with editing software, created by MAGIX ®, the EZ Audio kit comes with a 10-foot stereo cable with RCA plugs, three 80-minute Sony Audio CD-R discs, a headphone miniplug adapter and a Sony EZ Audio guide. The EZ Audio software is compatible with Windows ® system and PC-based CD-R/RW burners (not included).
EZ Editor Digital 8 for Home Videos
The EZ Editor kit provides point-and-click editing software that allows consumers to simply and quickly enhance and edit home videos. Users can add professional-looking titles, voice-over narration, music and new scene transitions. Additionally, once the video is imported to the PC, users can send it via e-mail, post it on a web site, record finished movies back onto a provided D8 tape or even copy it onto a Sony VHS tape for viewing on a TV set.
The EZ Editor D8 Kit comes with the PC plug-in board, iLINK ® (IEEE 1394) interface, editing software, two Sony Digital 8 videotapes and a guide to easy editing and moviemaking.
EZ Memories Photo Editing Kit
The EZ Memories kit allows users to create a `virtual' photo album that can be easily burned to a CD and sent to family and friends. Ideal for preserving digital image memories of all kinds - like scanning treasured family 33mm photographs on your child's school artwork - or simply downloading from a digital camera. By adding music family and friends can both watch and listen as they "flip" through the pages.
The kit comes with the software CD, a manual, three Sony CD-R discs, CD mailing labels.
EZ Audio , EZ Editor for Digital 8 and EZ Memories kits are the three newest additions to Sony's line of EZ products. EZ Editor DV, which is already available, allows users to edit digital video (DV) format tapes using editing software on a PC. And, for non-digital video users, Sony offers the EZ Editor Bundle. This is a kit that helps analog video users edit footage recorded on Hi-8 and VHS tapes.
The Sony EZ Audio Transfer & Restoration Kit has just been introduced in stores with a suggested list price of $49.99. Sony EZ Editor Digital 8 Home Editing Kit will be available this holiday season with a suggested list price of $99.99 and the Sony EZ Memories Photo Editing Kit will also be in stores in January with a suggested list price of $49.99.
