NEW SONY TELESCOPIC ADAPTER INCREASES VERSATILITY OF HDC SERIES MULTI-FORMAT CAMERAS
PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 20, 2006 - A new telescopic adapter from Sony is designed to allow placement of the optical block at up to approximately 165 feet (50 meters) from the camera head.
The adapter, model HKC-T1500, fits Sony's HDC1500 and HDC1550 multi-format high-definition cameras, and supports 1080/60p operation as well as color viewfinders such as Sony's new HDVF-C30W.
"This new adapter is perfect for operation with gimbal units or shooting in narrow spaces," said Rob Willox, director of marketing for content creation at Sony Electronics. "In addition to increasing the versatility of our HD multi-format cameras, the adapter is easy to install and offers flexible configuration options."
The Sony HDC1500 and HDC1550 (triax interface) portable cameras feature high-performance 2.2-megapixel 1920x1080 progressive scan CCDs, which provide enhanced image quality and stability. This CCD technology combines native 1080/60P image acquisition with a newly developed video image processor, utilizing the latest 0.11um semiconductor technology.
The new cameras operate across the entire spectrum of HD standards including:
Interlace 1080i mode @1080/59.94i, 50i
Progressive 1080P mode @1080/23.98p, 29.97p, 24p, 25p, 50p*, 60p*
Progressive 720P mode @720/59.94p, 50P
* Camera head output only via dual link
The HKC-T1500 telescopic adapter will be available this fall at a suggested list price of $25,000.
