SONY OFFERS NEW BC-L500 CAMERA BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM

PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 20, 2006 - Sony's latest camera accessory is a quick-charging system for up to four batteries simultaneously. The new BC-L500 system is well suited for use by television stations, rental houses and production facilities.

"Camera accessories need to be just as flexible as cameras in order to meet the needs of professional videographers," said Andy Berger, senior product manager for professional audio and video products at Sony Electronics. "This new camera charging system was designed with their needs in mind."

The system features a compact 19-inch high design, allowing it to be placed in a rack or on a shelf or desktop. Two units can be vertically stacked and inputs and outputs located on the front panel allow for easy access even if the system is placed in confined spaces, such as an OB van or machine room.

The front panel also features a "charge status" indicator, as well as a warning indicator for potentially damaged or defective batteries.

The charging system is compatible with an array of Sony Lithium-Ion batteries including those with the following model numbers: BP-GL95/65, BP-L60S, BP-L90A/60A/40A and the BP-IL75. Approximately 150 minutes of charge time can be achieved even when charging four batteries simultaneously.

The new charging system is anticipated in August at a suggested list price of $1,950.
