HOME SHOPPING NETWORK PURCHASES SONY DIGITAL STUDIO CAMERAS FOR FLORIDA STUDIOS

LAS VEGAS (NAB, Booth #18207), April 7, 2002 - The Home Shopping Network (HSN) has purchased twelve Sony BVP-E10 digital studio camera systems as part of a long-term upgrade for its St. Petersburg, Fla.-based studios.

"We selected the Sony studio cameras because they offer incredible performance capabilities," said Michelle Wilkins, director of broadcast engineering for the Home Shopping Network. "Other studio cameras we looked at simply didn't have the functionality we need."

"Broadcasters are quickly adopting our new BVP-E10 camera series for their high-quality performance and SDTV flexibilities," said Stephen Jacobs, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' Broadcast and Professional Systems Division.

The BVP-E10 series of digital portable cameras is specifically targeted at high-quality portable studio and dockable operations. The compact cameras combine the latest CCD and 12-bit digital signal processing technologies with an extensive range of operational features. At the heart of the cameras' outstanding picture performance is the newly developed Sony Power HAD ™ EX CCD sensor, providing excellent sensitivity, noise and smear performance.

Enhancing operational flexibility, the new CCD sensor also provides both interlaced and progressive scan output, tailor made for SDTV applications.

The BVP-E10 studio camera systems were delivered in March.

The studio cameras are part of Sony's comprehensive all-digital line-up of professional acquisition equipment. Sony's digital acquisition tools - which range from the -inch DVCAM ™ format to the high-definition -inch HDCAM ® format - offer significantly higher performance at lower price points then their analog counterparts.
