PARK RIDGE, N.J., June 9, 2009 – Two new Sony LCD projectors – models VPL-TX7 and VPL-TX70 – are designed specifically with students and teachers in mind. Both projectors offer native XGA resolution, with color light output ranging from 2000 (VPL-TX7) to 2600 Lumens (VPL-TX70) – enough brightness to be clearly seen in normal room lighting, so students can take notes and follow along with handouts.
“These new projectors redefine ‘smart’ – from their stylish looks to classroom-friendly features like closed captioning and a five-watt built-in speaker, so students can hear the audio loud and clear,” said Lana Gallucci, marketing manager for LCD projectors at Sony Electronics. “They use smaller lamps, which lessen the total cost of ownership, compared to other projector technologies. They’re destined to become teacher’s pets.”
The VPL-TX70 incorporates Sony’s 3LCD BrightEra™ imaging technology - the latest generation of LCD panels that reproduce brighter, true-to-life high-quality images.
The new projectors offer synchronized lamp and filter replacements at 3,000 and 4,000 hours; a variety of inputs, including composite video, S-video, two analog RGB/component inputs, plus one monitor out with variable audio out; and RJ-45 connection for remote monitoring and maintenance.
The new models feature a unique body shape that broadens towards the front, allowing images to project upwards on a screen with minimal tilt adjustment.
Network capabilities allow users to monitor projector status and receive e-mail notifications. Closed captioning functionality allows presenters to display a transcription of the audio portion from video sources.
Password protection helps prevent unauthorized usage, and users can also lock the control panel to help prevent inadvertent or unauthorized adjustments. A security bar allows connection to an optional security cable such as an anti-theft chain or wire.
The new TX Series models are available now, at the following suggested list prices:
- VPL-TX7 2,000 lumen XGA projector, $1,090
- VPL-TX70 2,600 lumen XGA projector $1,230
