Sony Hawaii, in Washington DC

July 24, 2008 11:41am

As you may or may not know, Sony has a strong presence in sales of consumer electronics for military personnel use, which is led by many people, including Karl Okemura, senior vice president of Global Military Sales. With our Global Military headquarters located in Hawaii, Karl and his team recently made the trip out to Washington D.C. to meet with various politicians. Check out his post below about his journey.

Our military exchange sales team recently visited the Washington D.C. offices of two members of our Hawaii congressional delegation, the honorable senators Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka. Following regularly scheduled business meetings at the Navy Exchange HQ and Marine Corps Exchange HQ in Virginia, courtesy calls were made to introduce Sony Hawaii president Ned Nomura, as well as to provide an update on the various activities of Sony Hawaii.

Grand Canyon stop on the 40 Days Tour

July 21, 2008 10:56am

I was able to travel with Rick on his 40 days, 40 stores Sony blogging tour and our Grand Canyon helicopter tour outside of Las Vegas. I had the opportunity to get familiar and use the Sony Handycam camcorder HDR-SR11 for the trip to Las Vegas.

Before my trip I spent time with El-Deane Naude, product information manager in the Digital Imaging group who gave me a quick 20 minute overview of the camcorder’s features. When it comes to electronics, I am one of those users who does not want to read a manual, just show me how it works and I am off and running.

The Blog Turns 1 and Gets a Make-Over

July 16, 2008 8:55pm

One year ago today, we launched the Sony Electronics Blog. With over a hundred posts, thousands of comments, and hundreds of thousands of views, this blog has been the start to Sony reaching out to you the consumer, in a more candid and honest manner. Thank you for reading, watching, listening and commenting. Every comment on this blog has been read and many have been shared with upper management. You,  the participants have made this blog a success and we truly appreciate it.

As Rick has stated before, we still have a long way to go, and hope to do more in this space moving forward. For a start, we are going to make-over the blog, make it more user friendly with more features. We hope to have a new look, with more pages featuring items like videos, pictures, and much more. We also plan to create more community sites geared toward products and services.

As we embrace this one year anniversary, we want you thoughts, your ideas- What do you want to see on this blog?  Would you like to read more guest blog posts and if so, from which departments? More blogs? More videos? Let us know- We are listening.

Mission Complete: 42 Sony Style Stores in 40 Days

July 14, 2008 12:03pm

Dateline: Kansas City, Mo. Just completed visits to all 42 Sony Style stores across the country right on Day 40, Friday, July 11, 2008, of the first (and hopefully not last) national blog tour.

And what an interesting final day it was.

Before heading to the Sony Style store at the charming Country Club Plaza district, dating back to the 1920s on Nichols Road, Sarah Solomon, an employee communications specialist, and I visited Sony’s parts center for the Americas, which is also based here.

Since I’ve been giving out free
Hancock movie passes throughout the store tour, my team and I decided on this final day we would take all of our 100-plus Kansas City parts center employees to see the movie at a nearby theater. Of course, I had a not-so-ulterior motive myself to check out the flick staring Will Smith.
